Welcome to The New Shopper Engagement blog.

It is intended for retailers with the goal of providing a broad range of insights into the fast-changing world of, well, in-store shopper engagement with a keen focus on how mobile technologies are changing almost everything. Our goal is to help all of us improve our understanding of what is happening and provide some great ideas on how to take advantage of new technologies and shopper behaviors to better engage your customers.

We’ll be taking all of the details and assembling the big picture to help foster ways of thinking about the technologies, changing consumer behaviors, and how customers are engaging retailers – and each other. Then we’ll provide ideas and solutions that can make significant differences in your sales, profitability, customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Along the way, we’ll work hard to weed out the digital distractions.

Areas we’ll dive into include:

  • Technologies – mobile, indoor location technologies, product locations, real-time communications, recommendations, personalization, big data, analytics…
  • Shopper behavior – attitudes, interactions, communications, social media, expectations, trade-offs, personalization, deal mentalities, entertainment/gamification…
  • Competition – online selling, ecommerce, showrooming, transparent pricing…
  • Social media – interactions between shoppers, shoppers and retailers, Twitter, Facebook, reviews, comments…

All of this drives towards new opportunities in how we think and implement new opportunities in:

  • Loyalty programs
  • Coupons
  • Personalized offers
  • Shopper marketing
  • Customer analytics

To deliver this we’ll write blogs, have guest bloggers, include outside opinions, comment on current news, ideas, and articles and point you in the direction of other good information sources. All with the goal of helping you – and us – understand and take advantage of the amazing new opportunities every day.
